Aims
To map heart failure admissions in the Murrumbidgee Local Health District. To correlate outcomes before, during and after hospital admission for heart failure and geographic proximity to specialist heart failure care.
Hypothesis
There is a geographical correlation between pre-admission management and proximity to
specialist heart failure care.
Method
A retrospective chart review of consecutive admissions to the Wagga Wagga Rural
Referral Hospital for confirmed heart failure will be used to collect medical and geographical data for descriptive analysis. The main measures and outcomes will be medical therapy before and after admission, comorbidities, readmission and mortality.
Conclusion
Disease mapping of heart failure admissions and outcomes in the Riverina may guide
policy and provision of healthcare resources in a geographically diverse area.
